Jiangyin Institute of Information Technology of Nanjing University was jointly established by Nanjing University, Jiangyin Municipal Government and Jiangyin Software Park, in February 2008. 20 million yuan will be invested in three phases, and the construction will be completed by 2011.

Based on the excellent talents and outstanding technology of Nanjing University in the field of Information Technology, the institute will improve both the ability of independant innovation of information industry in Jiangyin and the development of related disciplines of Nanjing University. The goal of the institute is to build a new Jiangyin city with international logistics, modern port, unique industry and integrated market, and to lead the innovation of technology and development of industry in this region.

To promote the imporvement of industry, education and research, the institute consists of four departments listed as follows:
         Software R & D Center,
         Electronics R & D Center,
         Logistics R & D Center,
         Comprehensive Talents Training Base.
